The Festival's opening event - A lecture from co-organiser Adam Busiakeiwicz giving a complete overview of the life and achievements of Sir Fulke Greville. This will include his career as a courtier, politician, soldier, poet and patron of the arts.

A guided walking tour covering Fulke Greville's local connections and former home in Warwick. The tour will start by exploring the interiors and grounds of Warwick Castle, the building he saved from dereliction, and end with his spectacular tomb in St Mary's Collegiate Church.

A fascinating lecture by the leading authority on Fulke Greville's literary pursuits,         Dr Freya Sierhuis of York University. As a contemporary of Shakespeare, Greville's written works provide us with a thrilling insight into the life and creative mind of this most intriguing poet and writer.

sONNETS AND SONG

An unmissable evening of live performances of both music and poetry from the time of Sir Fulke Greville. This will include lute song set to sonnets and poetry by Alcester's most famous yet forgotten poet!

Music to include pieces by John Dowland (1563-1626), Michael Cavendish (c.1565-1628), and Martin Peerson (1571-1650).

Includes a World Premiere performance of Stuart Fortey’s new play Greville’s End, directed by Jim Rastall and starring Nick Delvallé , Jack Wharrier and Mark Burghagen.

WALKING TOUR OF BEAUCHAMP COURT

A rare opportunity to visit the site in which the medieval manor of Beauchamp Court once stood. The tour will include a walk around the site and provide an explination of the remaining earthworks and moats, which decorated this once important home and birthplace of Sir Fulke Greville.

Aaron Manning (Interpretation Manager at the Historic Royal Palaces) will be providing an insight of the many illustrious later members of the Greville family to bear his name. This includes Charles Fulke Greville, 7th Earl of Warwick, who tried to make his fortunte as an actor in Hollywood during the 1930s.

Fulke Greville's London - Walking Tour

A unique walking tour covering Sir Fulke Greville's London haunts. Starting from the site of his house (and eventual murder) in Holborn, walking down towards the Strand, this walk will cover his entire life and career ending in Westminster.

2.00pm / Meeting at the entrance to Holborn Tube Station
